Because it was the desire of our founders that The Union Church would welcome worshipers from various theological backgrounds, we are not formally affiliated with any particular denomination.  Our church does, however, practice a Christian spirituality that is rooted deeply in history, scripture, and experience.  For instance, when we celebrate communion we affirm together The Apostle’s Creed, one of the earliest statements of faith known to the church.  We focus on the life and teaching of Jesus and try to apply his words to our lives.  And through the power of God's spirit we experience the joy of forgiveness and the power of personal transformation.  Another guiding principle at The Union Church is the advice of St. Augustine who said: “In essentials unity, in non-essentials diversity, in all things charity.”
